This past weekend I decided to take the plunge and become an Independent Business Owner. What does that mean you ask? Well basically its me taking my first steps towards success as an entrepreneur. I’m somewhat nervous about my new endeavor but I’m also excited about the opportunity at growing a business and creating additional income for my family. Basically I will document every single step it takes me to make myself a successful IBO. Hopefully these steps will help those that come after me and also teach them what to do and what not to do to be a successful IBO.

I like to watch almost every major sport that airs on ESPN, yep, I’ve even watched the National Spelling Bee. I grew up playing and watching sports and I’m passing on that tradition to my children…sorta. Since this is the first post in this section I will keep it short and simply give you a brief overview and explanation of my favorite Teams and players.

Baseball
My Favorite baseball team is the Baltimore Orioles. Since early in his career (around 1986) I followed Cal Ripken Jr and that formed my love for the O’s. Unfortunately since the origin of my liking the O’s they have not had much luck putting together a solid team to match up with the Red Sox or the Yanks.

Football
Daa Bearsss – I’ve been a fan of the Bears as long as I can remember. My love for the Bears started when I was a youngster and was given a Chicago Bears Trash can as a Christmas present. I vaguely remember the Superbowl Shuffle, but have watched and listened to it many many times over the years.

Hockey
I’m not the biggest hockey fan but you will catch me rooting for our local team The Columbus Bluejackets and also our neighbors next door the Pittsburgh Penguins. I started off being a fan of the Vancouver Canucks because of Pavel Bure but when he left the team so did my desire to follow them.

Basketball
Yes – I admit I’m a fair weather basketball fan. I really like watching the games, especially the All Star games but my love for basketball started with Jordan. (As it did for most kids my age). I followed Mr. Jordan which made me like the Bulls but I wouldn’t say I was a bulls fan. I currently follow LBJ (Lebron) and have always been a big fan of the Shaq.

Golf
I’ve been to a few Golf outings at the Muirfield Golf Course and the one Golfer whom I used to follow around was Payne Stewart. Unfortunately with his passing I had to find another golfer to hitch the wagon to and along comes Tiger. I have always rooted for Tiger to do well but I like to see others come out of nowhere to challenge him.

College Ball
I’m a Die Hard Ohio State Buckeyes fan. I know I know, we have a bad rap for being annoying fans with horrible sports programs, but hey, we love our Bucks. I can’t complain though since recently their basketball program has shown some life and the football program is constantly in contention for a major bowl bid.

Racing
If I have to sit down and watch a Nascar race, I will, but don’t ask me questions about rules or whats going on. I would have to say Carl Edwards (as of right now) is my favorite to watch. He’s borderline dangerous and has an O Gosh, I’m gonna beat you down attitude.

Soccer
I loved to play soccer, until I blew out the knee. I’ve never been keen on watching it, however, I will cheer on our local Columbus Crew and of course the USA in the World Cup.

Tennis
My past favorites were Agassi, Sampras & Chang, mostly because they were the only ones that were televised. My current favorite has to be Nadal. I’ve followed him ever since his first major tournament and will root for him until he retires. I have to admit though that I’m never upset to see Arod or Federer win one.

I know I could go on and on about each of my favorite players and teams, but I will do that in the following posts.

I’ve been working with People to My Site now for a full month and I’m still loving this job. SEO is such a fun area to work in and it always provides something new every day. Getting back to work now.

Well the weekend is over and I’m back at work.

My weekend went fast but I stayed extremely active.

First off Friday night Tiff and I went to see The Incredible Hulk which I have to say is one of the neatest Super Hero movies that I have seen in a long time.    After the movie we picked the kids up from my moms and then headed back home for a good nights rest.

Saturday – woke up around 8:30 and moped around the house for a while.  The kids finally woke up so I had to switch gears and make some breakfast.  After breakfast, playing with the kids and the wife, I had to get ready to go build some wiffle ball fields for the London Wiffle Ball Tourny on August 2nd.   I arrived at the fields around 11:00ish and started to help build the fields.   We were building the fields until around 4:00 or so and then it was time for the All Star Game.   Unfortunately the American League started off a little slow and the National League beat us 36 to 19 (or something like that).   Overall it was a fun day of building, hanging out with other avid Wiffleball Fans, getting toasted (because I forgot sunscreen) and having fun.   The day continues though, I went home (slowly) crept into the house and layed down for a few minutes.  My body was a little sore from the sun and a bit dehydrated.  I finally got up the strength to take a shower and then head off to spend the night with Tiff at Angela’s (babysitting Rowan for the night).   Had a good relaxing night watching Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium and then some channel surfing before catching some Zs.

Sunday was what I like to call Extreme Lazyness.   Slept in until around 11ish, went downstairs and ate some breakfast that Tiff made then laid back down to watch some more TV.  (Blue’s Clues or something like that).   Finally after a few hours we decided to go swimming, already burnt heavily from the day before I hesitated at first but eventually couldn’t hold back my desire to jump in a pool.   We went swimming for an hour or so and then headed back to Ang’s for some dinner.  Tiff and Ang went over to a friends for a Belly Dancing class, (Fine by me) while the kids and I stayed at Ang’s and took a much needed nap.   After they got back from the class we sat around for a while and then headed home.   Once we got back home Tiff and I did a quick clean up of the house and it was finally time for bed.

Weekend Brief.   Watched movies, played ball, got burnt, went swimming, played with kids, slept.

I’m still working on the design of the site and spent much of this past weekend tinkering around with colors, design and layout.   I still can’t decide on the design or colors and will soon have my layout finished. I want to take quite a bit of time in the design because I don’t want to rush things and spend more time later on cleaning up the site.   I want to make a friendly easy to use and also easy on the eyes type of site.  I don’t want to be to design heavy, but don’t want to be boring either.
I will fill you in on more details once I figure out what I’m going to work on next.

Well enough chattering about the process, time to get back to work.

Enjoy them Taters!
